ecology

We care a lot about where our products come from, how and where they are made to rejuvenate the planet.

Renewable Energy

We are proud to say that our workshop heating is run by 100% and renewable energy and our lighting is 50% renewable.

Wooden Pellets

Biomass heating

Biomass boilers are very similar to conventional gas boilers, providing your space with heating and hot water for the entire home, but instead of using gas (or oil) to produce the heat, they combust sustainably sourced wood pellets or other bio materials and have much lower C02 emission. Our wooden pellets are locally sourced from Devon, UK. Provided by Brighton and Hove Energy Services (BHESCO).

Solar panels

solar engery

We have photovoltaic solar panels fitted on our workshop roof, that partly supply the electricity for our workshop. The solar energy covers our lighting and any electricity we don't use goes back into the UK National grid contributing to it's renewable electricity supply. Provided by Solar Advanced Systems.

other Ways we help the planet

  • We purchase locally sourced wood from Sussex

  • We recycle our sawdust waste by composting it through a special process

  • We choose off-cuts and reclaimed wood from our strong network of local wood suppliers over buying new timbers

  • We re-use our workshop offcuts during our courses or give them away to our apprentices

  • We make small items with our offcuts to sell at pop up shops/markets
