We are proud to say that our workshop heating & lighting is run by 100% renewable energy.
Biomass boilers are very similar to conventional gas boilers, providing your space with heating and hot water for the entire home, but instead of using gas (or oil) to produce the heat, they combust sustainably sourced wood pellets or other bio materials and have much lower C02 emission. Our wooden pellets are locally sourced from Devon, UK. Provided by Brighton and Hove Energy Services.
We have photovoltaic solar panels fitted on our workshop roof, that partly supply the electricity for our workshop. The solar energy covers our lighting and any electricity we don't use goes back into the UK National grid contributing to it's renewable electricity supply. Provided by Solar Advanced Systems.
We like to work closely with other like minded people.
other Ways we help the planet
We purchase locally sourced wood whenever we can from Sussex
We recycle our sawdust waste with local horse stables for re-use as bedding
We select off-cut woods from local wood suppliers before new timbers
We re-use our workshop offcuts during our courses or give them away to our apprentices
We make small items with the offcuts to sell at pop up shops
Come to our workshop and see for yourself!
